We’re starting a new series here on The B-Line Buzz: Meet a Mixologist. We’ll take you on a digital tour of all The B-Line stops that serve cocktails to get a glimpse of how we “find our sipping point” here on Northern Kentucky’s bourbon trail.
Meet Morgan Earley, Chief Mixologist at Second Sight Spirits.
Second Sight is the newest distillery added to our local B-Line bourbon tour. They recently joined the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour© which made them eligible to join The B-Line in 2019. With their mix of local color, old-time theatrics, fortunetelling fun, and hand-crafted everything, this artisanal distillery and bar is a must-see stop on The B-Line.
Head Mixologist Morgan shines in her role behind the bar like the enchanting crystal ball lamps dotting the tables in Second Sight’s spacious bar.
Her enthusiasm and obvious love of what she does shows in all the details of her mixology. From the thoughtful and tasty recipes she creates, to the fact that she even grows some of the ingredients used in her concoctions.
She made two cocktails for our visit, the Caramel Apple
and a Half-Moon.
Both drinks were amazing.
Morgan carefully plans the cocktail and coffee menus, which change seasonally. We can’t wait to taste the new featured drinks as the year rolls by.
Morgan also values Second Sight’s commitment to local flavor and building community. Although this unique distillery draws visitors from all over the world, their foundation is firmly set in Northern Kentucky, specifically the small city of Ludlow, just across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio. One glance at the local events they host and participate in, from weekly live music to readings by a local medium, to Ludlow’s Craft Fair, and Pirate Day, shows that Second Sight is not only a distillery loaded with charm, they’re also the kind of spot where you can truly experience the benefits of “drinking local.”
In case you Google-wandered to this blog post and are wondering what exactly is this B-Line bourbon tour of NKY, here’s a handy B-Line FAQ. Cheers, y’all and hoping Second Sight’s fortunetelling goldfish, Fortuna chooses an excellent outcome for you when you visit!
We may be smack dab in the middle of the dog days of summer, but we predict that this could be the longest patio season in history... mostly due to Covid-19. And while the coronavirus might make us wear a mask or refrain from going indoors more than usual, we won't let it steal all of our joy!
The Bourbon Review has named Northern Kentucky the Best Bourbon Weekend Trip in 2019.
